Happy Burfday Big Sister Dolce! Although it is frowned upon to lick your spoon at cooking school, she got away with it as she was a guest for the evening. Big Sister Dolce's birthday gift was a night of cooking: chocolate roulade with a ginger and cream filling and sea bass with gremolata and cannelini beans with a white vinegar and caramelised onion sauce (my favourite part of the meal). We even de-scaled and filleted the fish, now we are ready for a fishing trip!

It was a great evening and she even got to wash the dishes too - that's what happens when you are a guest of honour! Thanks to Leith's Cooking school for being so wonderful.

Re: posts belowInterestingly, the term 'salad days' was mentioned by the baldy from Sex in the City who is now on my new favourite show, Californication - why did I not discover the David Duchovny hotness earlier? No one eats on that show, all they do is drink Fiji water, cocktails and hard liquor.

And I need to go back and write a proper post about the Whole Foods store on High Street Kensington as I loved going there a few weeks ago. I spent forever in there. I actually lost track of time, checking out all their products, produce, cheeses etc.. it was a great food shopping experience which resulted in me buying oysters, an oyster shucker, swordfish steaks and white sea bass. It was too much fish for one weekend but it was great, bar the Oysters that were not too juicy-how do you choose oysters? Do you shake them to see if there is lots of seawater inside?

More places like this are needed in London, am really getting annoyed with shopping at the local petrol station for my fruit and veg.

Anyhow another busy week, am surviving on golden pineapple in the morning, chicken and rice soup for lunch and whatever is in the fridge for dinner - lots of Thai food is being consumed from our local favourite, Street Hawker - the guy even knows us in there and asks, 'nasi goreng for you?' Errm...maybe should go there a little less. How do you get bathing suit body in 2 weeks?

Running & Pilates marathon to commence immediately...

Food glorious food...

The food we purchased at Pusateri's on Avenue Road was great especially the cannoli, lemon tarts and marinated fresh sea bass. The fish man seemed very knowledgeable about all the fish on display and they cut it in front of us off a whale sized carcass and also marinated it for us in some special sauce -yummy.

BUT the store is chaotic and hard to navigate, especially when busy, you can't get two buggies down the aisle. Everything seems over priced too. Need to compare with other specialty food shops as haven't done much grocery shopping here yet so don't really know what prices should be?

Mrs. Dolce & Mr. Quinn have been feeding me...and AK and I are waiting for Mrs. Quinn to whip up a gourmet meal soon too! Maybe chicken surprise?

I took no pics as we just devoured the bbq'd bass with fresh mango salsa and when desert time came around we again forgot to whip out the camera. We quickly put away the cannoli, fresh strawberries, watermelon, lemon tarts, chocolate mousse cakes and other treats....thx Mr. Q for lunch it was a special Mother's Day!
