Ms B is ~ so very EnglishMs.B is oh so very English (sometimes very Northern too). To me, she does a lot of 'very English' things, this is probably since I work and play in a United Nations type of circle with English people being the minority of the group. At work and at home I am part of a multicultural 'tossed salad', that was the term we were taught as youngsters at St. Chuckleberry. We kept our ancestral identities and worked well in this salad bowl unlike the US where everyone throws their cultures away at the door and jumps into the melting pot of America.

Anyhoo, I digress...Ms.B does some particularly English things and the other day she said she was making a very English dinner that evening. When asked to guess I instantly said 'bangers and mash' which was correct! First guess and I got that she was eating the typically English/Northern meal of sausages and mashed potato. She bought the posh ones at Waitrose which have tomato inside. That said with an English accent is -tom-ah-toe - dahhling.

Lots of love Ms. B! Am off to make a cuppa Yorkshire tea and have a biscuit... xx

Rose Roast
A delicious lamb roast bought at Waitrose, the sauce that it cooked in was just delightful. It was a sweet redcurrant and rosemary glaze that was a perfect match for the juicy lamb joint. This meal was definitely restaurant quality - shockingly out of a box and only took about 45 min in the oven. Will be definitely buying that again. Thanks for making it Bronnie!

Betty & I
With a little help from Betty Crocker and the Bunny rabbit, we made 4 cakes to create this 4-0 for Jappy's bday. It had a layer of white icing in between and was decorated with some lovely toppings that I bought at Waitrose.

There were a few glitches before the final product came to fruition e.g. cake sticking to the pan, the cakes exploded in the oven into pimple-like structures so some creative cutting was in order, icing and cake crumbs all over the kitchen, trying to open the door with chocolate frosting covered hands, general icing difficulties, finding chocolate icing on my arm at the club and more... but, the end result looked good and it didn't get jostled too much in the taxi.
Luckily the designer-extraordinaire was in town from Prague to make the '4.' It looked like it would be an arrow with a 0 cake before she stepped in to make a cutout of a 4. Thanks E!
Even the waiters loved it.

My substitute turkeysInstead of buying a frozen, massive turkey which would take 2 days to defrost (and the packaging had a hole in it) I opted for 2 fresh, free range, Waitrose chickens.

I lathered them with garlic, fresh tarragon, salt, pepper and roasted them with olive oil, carrots, onions, sweet potato and regular spuds. Served with bruschetta to start, stuffing, vegetables and vegetarian lasagna it was a fantastic belated Thanksgiving dinner. I started cooking at 11am and didn't stop til guests arrived at 7pm - that is a long day of peeling and preparing, my respect for housewives significantly increased that day!

Then there was the lemon meringue pie that the Bunny made, which should and will have its own post. It was delicious! There was lots of wine consumed and it was a great evening with the NHG and the other London family members.

The Yanks are celebrating Thanksgiving soon so hopefully I will get invited to another dinner - maybe this time there will be turkey!
