The Best Pavlova?
Highly endorsed by Dee, this looks delicious! I wish Mel wasn't in chilly NZ making and eating pavlova but at our place trying out her recipe as am sure Dee and I would be excellent taste testers. Not sure if it is the best pavlova as Pat may have been already nominated with that award. Will check the archives.
"Mel is the best pavlova maker ever and has this really nice cake mixer at home in NZ that helps a lot too." DK, June 2009

Fijian foods
I am off to Fiji - the islands in the South Pacific Ocean for two weeks. I have been out of blog mode for a while with all these national holidays getting in the way.

Happy belated Canada Day to you all...hope you had a good one. Ours was filled with bbq and more bbq, pies, ice cream, cakes and more treats like brownies, fresh strawberries, cherries and more.

Needless to say it was a great weekend with lots of fresh Ontario produce.

This pic is of Kokoda, a Fijian food. It is made out of raw fish meat seasoned with lemon juice and coconut milk; can't wait to have some great fish meals.

While away, I am going to try and post if I can but not sure if I will be able to access the internet.

Am asking guest bloggers step forward -any takers? Or readers, I will be back in two short weeks. By then, I should have a wealth of stuff to post in regards to plane food (tip: always order a special meal as you get served first), Fijian delights and New Zealand treats - am going to Pat and Robbie's farm so will take pics of me milking the cows!! Am very excited. Maybe Pat will make her famous Pavlova....mmm!

Ta da....Mrs. Pat Hale's Gorgeous Pavlova
Remember folks in an old posting when I told you about the lovely Mrs.Hale and her pavlova recipe. Well the picture I attached to it was probably made out of fake plastic and hairsprayed into place as it was so perfect looking and gleaming.

This is the picture that actually accompanies the recipe and Pat made this especially for us to view and drool over. The photo took a while to arrive in the UK as the cord to the camera was lost (the cat may have ate it!) but here is what my lovely NZ mother said...

Had fun making this for a dinner party with friends. Robbie loves it and would eat it every day!!! But hes not allowed!!! Farmer Robbie am sure ate all the left overs-that's Pat's hubby.

MANY THANKS PAT for submitting recipe and photo, now all you other lazy buggers get on it and send me some of your recipes and pics - I know you cook at least once a month ;)

More Sicily posts to come just swamped with the day job....always seems to get in the way.

Love to readers in New Zealandxxx
