Candyman goes for jellyThe Candyman thinks he is in good nick, but hasn't had a cholesterol test lately. He goes to the gym and still fits in his Christmas trousers so I guess he is healthy as any other Northern lad.

This week he managed to plow through some of his Vegas-themed sweeties and almost finish all the jellybeans left in his bowl- at one point he randomly pulled out a fresh, soft jelly doughnut covered in sugar! It looked sooo good I wanted to grab it and eat it whole but resisted as it would go straight to the hips - I haven't done any exercise this week. The j-doughnut was from Marks and Spencer - they do nice things in their fresh bakery section.

Am going for a run today to work off the chocolate cake I indulged in last night and to prepare for the karaoke extravaganza tonight with the Chandler

(Errm...is that a bottle of champagne on his shelf?)

Dragon for blood The day after the Ikea boxes-tripsy-acrobatics I came home from work (with my bandaged knee) to find this exotic dragon fruit in my room. Also known as pitahaya, huǒ lóng guǒ, 火龍果/火龙果 lIt it was a nice surprise - and I love pink and new foods especially exotic ones that look like they will be sweet to eat! Interesting fact...not only is the fruit lovely to look at, the pitahaya blooms only at night; with large white fragrant flowers, typical of cactus, that are often called Moonflower or Queen of the Night.

I haven't cut it open or peeled it yes as I don't know if it is ripe or what to do with it so will consult Mrs. Lau and ask her what to do with it. The note was lovely and surprises are always fun! Thanks BH.

Today I am home from work putting finishing touches on the cookbook proposal and am going to be printing and sending it out 1st week of December! Hmm...or should I wait until the new year as publishers may spill their holiday champagne and soil it with Christmas cake and mince pie crumbs?! It is that time of year.... only 24 days, 12 hours, 56 minutes, 53 seconds to go!

Purple clothes, drinks and more...

Sorry readers it has been a hectic week and not much time at home or near the computer to post, I actually have a job now?! It does truly interfere with my spare time though... :)

Worked on the Girls Aloud private gig at Sketch on Conduit Street last week (their website is quite cool). It was an event to launch the new purple Samsung F210 phone and it was purple power all night! The girls looked fab in their purple outfits and the venue was set up to be a mini concert venue - great job Olivia! There were purple cocktails and lovely canapes passed around but unfortunately the life of a PR gal is not to sip cocktails and eat the food but to work the event.

So will have to wait for pics of the food and get the recipes for some of the lovely purple signature cocktails that were created. Other food related bits about the day are during media interviews the girly group were housed at the Westbury Hotel in Mayfair and journalists awaited their turn to interview the girls in the hotel's lobby bar - The Polo Bar. I recall eating some lovely crisps -hand cooked sweet potato chips, small salty biscuits and other cocktail-y nibbles that were great. Again no time for pics but you can imagine what a swanky hotel bar would bring out. The Polo Bar's menu online also looks delicious - need to find an expense account to take me there for a grand lunch!

I did have dinner at Sketch a while back and can't remember what the food actually tasted like but the atmosphere is like no other, especially the toilets which remind you of Mork and Mindy's egg shaped space vehicle.

Will post more pics and some info on the purple themed cocktails if anyone of the team stopped and actually drank one! By the time I was ready for a glass of champers the bar was dry.

What do you want to drink?<

It seems to be the dreaded question for me when someone is ordering at the bar. Am not really a fan of beer and don't always feel like a shandy as they can be very bloat inducing, don't like white wine, nor cheap red wine as it tastes awful and at bars good red wine is rare or expensive. So that leaves mixed drinks some of which can be boring, rum and coke, vodka/gin tonic and my memory passes me when I want to order something different...sometimes it is easier to just order a Coke. This past weekend, this time of indecision led me to miss the opportunity to pick something and instead let the drink buyer pick something. I like this as it takes the pressure off and I usually enjoy something new.

All were happy with the choice - Prosecco. I haven't had it in ages and really like it.

Prosecco is a variety of white grape grown in the Veneto region of Italy, and also gives its name to the sparkling wine made from the grape like true Champagne.

The grape is grown in the wine-growing regions north of Venice. Its late ripening has led to its use in dry sparkling wines. Apparently Bellinis, made properly should be made with Prosecco. The name "Prosecco" is now protected under European law and can be used only for the wine made from the Prosecco grape in the Conegliano/Valdobbiadene region.

It was just lovely - refreshing, sparkling and nice and light. A few of us enjoyed the Prosecco at one of our locals, The Metropolitan. The pic is of Ben and his red trousers (which were the hit of the party) and sunglasses which are not 3D-they are part of the t-shirt! He is a man of fine taste and always knows how to have a good time! Thx Ben for ordering, I could've been a while...
